When pets reach their “golden years,” their health care needs change. Some pets are at a greater risk for arthritis, diabetes, and obesity so we recommend wellness exams at least twice a year for senior pets. We also recommend a urinalysis and a comprehensive senior blood profile and CBC every year as well as a heartworm test every other year—if no heartworm preventative doses have been missed. For your convenience, a majority of our lab work is performed in house. If necessary, we can discuss any other areas of concern, such as diet, exercise, and behavior modifications to help ensure your pet is as healthy as possible throughout their geriatric years.
